No difference in same-sex or different-sex lovemaking

The gay community in India does have a sense of humour. After a screening of the badly-received gay film Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyun at the PVR in Juhu on Tuesday night held specially for gays, drag queens and bi- sexuals, the alternate community adopted the film's lead pair Kapil Sharma and Yuvraaj Parasher as their “most romantic couple”.

Laughs Sharma, “In fact we're now officially the Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan of the gay community. We've been asked to carry our characters forward into other movies.”

Though Dunno Y…has been savaged by most critics and is a boxoffice failure the film's success within the gay community has spurred Kapil Sharma and his on-screen partner to pair themselves as a gay couple in another film.

Kapil has his fingers crossed. Says the actor (who is not gay in real life), “The show for gays at PVR has enthused both me and Yuvraaj Parasher to explore the feminine side of our personality. The show at PVR was attended by drag queens and gays.

It was the first time that I saw drag queens in a movie theatre in their full attire. It was good to see them being themselves not bothered with what people would say.”

Kapil and Yuvraaj were greeted like a couple by the gays at the screening.

Laughs Kapil, “Most of them wanted to know if we were gay in real life. They said we were like Shah Rukh and Kajol in DDLJ.”

That's when the idea for a televised gay version of DDLJ was born.

Says the enthusiastic actor-producer, “We've been getting amazing support from the gay community and gay activists. Ashok Row Kavi (gay activist) told me Yuvraaj Parasher's character of a bi-sexual married man represents the dilemma of 80 percent of the gay men in India.”

Now Kapil is ready and willing to further explore what he calls the feminine side to his personality. “I am straight. But every man has a feminine side. And I explored this side of me with my co-star in the film. Our kiss was not faked.

Once we started making love I realized there's no difference between the same-sex and different-sex lovemaking. I could connect with the emotions and the physical desires of a homosexual.Seeing the enthusiasm with which our effort has been received we're ready to take our on-screen relationship ahead into more screen time.”

Couples adopted Kapil Sharma and Yuvraaj Parasher.

Gushes Kapil, “They've labeled us the SRK and Kajol of the gay cinema. Photographer Vicky Idnani after watching the film said our chemistry is as real as Amitabh-Rekha and Shah Rukh-Kajol.”
